Split-interstitial defect formation

Download AViz files

A crystal defect in which a displaced atom forms a bond with a normal atom in such a away that neither atom is on the normal site but the two are symmetrically displaced from itยน.

In this visualization we can see a split-interstitial vacancy defect forming in a crystal structure.

This example was taken from AViz examples page, specifically the first example of the ion implantation into diamond.
